The SBWA has been doing electrofishing surveys as part of our restoration work and fish population monitoring.
We do these surveys immediatly after restoration work in a degraded habitat, to get a snapshot view of the current state of fish populations in that area. Then we electrofish again at the same site the following years, so that we can measure the benefits of our work and the transformation of the site.
We use this technique to built a database of fish populations in various parts of the watershed, so that we can eventually establish a restocking plan for salmon and trout.
