Like all salt marshes, the Grande-Digue marsh is a very productive ecosystem that plays an important role in the health of the Shediac Bay. That’s why we are working to collect knowledge and restore marshes in our watershed.
Our fieldwork team received training with WESP-AC (Wetland Ecosystem Services Protocol – Atlantic Canada).
This new knowledge helps us better identify native plants, as well as the ecological services that each of the marshes fulfill, such as storm surge reduction, water purification, quality of habitat for fauna and the maintenance of the food chain.
